LIESA VAN DER AA
I Want Absolute Beauty
Sandra Hüller sings songs by the legendary singer-songwriter PJ Harvey.
Letters 2 Dance
This performance is a choreographic elaboration of Gymnastics of the Mind (2020), a research project inspired by the book ABECEDA (1926). This resulted in an own dance alphabet that was also published in the summer of 2021. Letters 2 Dance translates from book to stage. The performance explores the possibility of 'literally' writing dance. Not surprising, because choreographing is literally 'movement writing'. The performance pushes the boundaries of that metaphor – dance as writing – in order to articulate the individuality of dance all the more clearly.
Cantania - 1001x une ville, een stad
Once upon a time there was a city, in Brussels as elsewhere. In this city live two children with extraordinary talents. There is Dario: a word juggler who creates poems by walking (and stumbling). Then there is Ella, an inventor who collects sounds to make music of her time. As if by chance, their paths collide! Together they think they can take on the world, superheroes! And this world needs them, because it is suffering... Do their children's voices carry enough to save it?
The Handmade's Tale
At the invitation of KAAP and De Republiek, composer and 'all-round performer' Liesa Van der Aa curates and creates a walk through the city center of Bruges especially for this AMOK edition.
Hier & Daar
It's true: sometimes I'm HERE, but I'd rather be THERE. Because THERE is much more beautiful than HERE. THERE I can be anything. Everything I can dream of. Sometimes HERE is just here. And THERE is everywhere. But sometimes... it's nice here too. Where do I most want to be now? HERE or THERE or THERE or HERE?
Shel(l)ter
One night a boy with no memories washes up on the surf. He learns the rules of the game through encounters on the beach. Or do the others learn the most from him?
Just Asking
Are Peter Seynaeve and Oscar Van Rompay adapting Padget Powell's book full of questions for theatre?
Angels in America
America in the mid-eighties. The Reagan era. Conservative, right-wing and loud. Politics is harsh and cold like never before. AIDS is a new disease that is hitting New York's gay community unexpectedly quickly and mercilessly.
ParadiseHell
The annual youth opera brings together classically and non-classically trained singers and instrumentalists for the first time in a project around 500 years of Hieronymous Bosch.
Van den Vos
Mist hangs in thick slabs between the greenery. In the scanty light we see time passing. Something shoots through the plants and disappears again. The fog increases, filling the forest with a dense pack of clouds, until there is nothing left but a solid, white mass. Lost, feeling his way, he steps through this smog, through this forest. The forest that creaks and whispers. He wades through the ferns and cautiously calls out a name that sounds like “Fox!” and “Fox?”. And the ferns whisper along. And he can barely see his hand in the mist that wraps around him like a thick blanket.
De Misdaad
Third and final part of the Musil trilogy. Johan Leysen plays writer Musil and serial killer Moosbrugger. Liesa Van der Aa – with her violin at the ready – plays the victim of both men.
Wandelen op de Champs-Elysées met een schildpad om de wereld beter te kunnen bekijken, maar het is moeilijk thee drinken op een ijsschots als iedereen dronken is.
